The question

What happens when an equalizer offers a starting point before the musician knows which frequency to move?

METAMORFO explores generative equalisation for sound design rather than corrective mixing. A timbral profile and a few broad controls guide a bank of parametric bands. The system proposes a coherent curve; the musician can refine it, reject it or continue exploring.

The direction

The important mechanic is mutation. A new result does not have to discard the previous one. Individual bands can drift by small amounts, preserving parts of the curve that already work while introducing a controlled variation.

The same bands can also move continuously or mutate at intervals, turning a static frequency response into evolving spectral motion. Bands may be dragged, muted or locked so that generation and direct control can coexist.

What remains unresolved

Generated curves need useful constraints, predictable gain behaviour and enough continuity to feel authored rather than random. The experiment is also testing how many moving bands remain musically legible before density becomes the entire effect.
